HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Jan 
4Michael Tchoryk, who passed away on April 5, 2023; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Jan Tchoryk was born on September 4, 1967; he 
6served with the U.S. Navy during Desert Storm; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Jan Tchoryk served as a lieutenant with Engine 
84/Tower Ladder 10 of the Chicago Fire Department; he joined 
9the department in 1997; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Jan Tchoryk was an active outdoorsman and a 
11motorcyclist; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Jan Tchoryk was the friendly person in the room; 
13he was always smiling and brought joy to everyone he met; a 
14selfless person, he was concerned about everyone else and 
15never concerned about himself; he was passionate about his 
16family, the outdoors, and serving others; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Jan Tchoryk was the beloved husband of Natalia 
18Kavkun; the loving father of Jacqueline Nicole, Dylan C.P.D., 
19Olivia, and Grace; the stepfather of Olena Kavkun; the beloved 
20son of Olga and the late Jan; the dear brother of Stefania

1(Stefan) Szkafarowsky, Maria (Michael) Osyka, Ewa Tchoryk (Don 
2Bardwell), and Taras (Kris); and the fond nephew, cousin, and 
3uncle to many; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
5HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
6we mourn the passing of Jan Michael Tchoryk and extend our 
7sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew 
8and loved him; and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to  the family of  Jan Tchoryk as an expression of our 
11deepest sympathy.
