| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Roy George Hlavacek, who passed away |
| 4 | | on August 29, 2021 at the age of 83; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Roy Hlavacek was born to George and Lillian |
| 6 | | Hlavacek on September 17, 1937; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Roy Hlavacek earned his bachelor's degree in |
| 8 | | Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at |
| 9 | | Urbana-Champaign in 1960 and his MBA from the University of |
| 10 | | Chicago in 1969; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Roy Hlavacek was a food industry engineer and |
| 12 | | communications professional; he worked as a project engineer |
| 13 | | at Swift Foods, a publisher at Putnam Publishing and Delta |
| 14 | | Communications, and an executive at the Institute of Food |
| 15 | | Technologists; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Roy Hlavacek was an integral part of the Oak Park |
| 17 | | philanthropic community; he established a commission to |
| 18 | | support the preservation of Frank Lloyd Wright's local |
| 19 | | architecture and was a co-founder of the Ernest Hemingway |
| 20 | | Foundation of Oak Park; and
