SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of The Rev. Dr. Laurence Larson of Moline, who passed away on September 30, 2021; and

WHEREAS, Laurence Larson was born to Roy and Agnes Burke Larson in East Chicago, Indiana on March 3, 1936; he attended public schools in Sterling and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954 to 1957; he graduated from Illinois College in Jacksonville in 1960 and received a Master of Divinity from Nashotah House Seminary in Nashotah, Wisconsin in 1963; he received a Doctorate of Ministry from the Graduate Theological Foundation in Notre Dame, Indiana in 1988; he married Betty Lou Izard in Warsaw on December 30, 1961; and

WHEREAS, Laurence Larson was ordained in the Episcopal Church in 1963; he served eight years of college chaplaincy, as rector of Trinity Parish in Lincoln from 1971 to 1977, and as Rector of Trinity Parish in Rock Island from 1977 to 2001; he helped establish the All Saints Mission in Moline in February of 2009 and served that congregation through 2013; and

WHEREAS, Laurence Larson was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Roger and Don; and his sister, Lois Fulfs; and

WHEREAS, Laurence Larson is survived by his wife, Betty Larson; his sons, Christopher and Chad (Carrie) Larson; his daughter, Catherine Larson and her husband, John Culwell; ten grandchildren; and his twin sister, Laurel Bye; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of The Rev. Dr. Laurence Larson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Laurence Larson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
