| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of James H. "Jim" Brown of Milan, who |
| 4 | | passed away on March 14, 2021; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Brown was born in Moline to Harry and Alice |
| 6 | | (Hoogerwerf) Brown on June 16, 1930; he graduated from |
| 7 | | Reynolds High School in 1947; he served in the U.S. Navy aboard |
| 8 | | the U.S.S. Snowden; he married Peggy Jo Irwin on March 1, 1952; |
| 9 | | and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Jim Brown retired as director of Emergency |
| 11 | | Communications from the Illinois State Police in 1990 after 32 |
| 12 | | years of service; he was also the owner of 2-Way Marine Radio |
| 13 | | in Milan; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Jim Brown loved being on the water and cruising |
| 15 | | aboard the Seahorse alongside his wife, and they enjoyed |
| 16 | | cruising the Mississippi River from Rock Island to the Florida |
| 17 | | Keys for 18 years; he was especially happy and proud when |
| 18 | | spending time together with his children, grandchildren, and |
| 19 | | great-grandchildren; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Jim Brown was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 21 | | his brother, Tom; and his grandson, Tom Brown; and
|
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Jim Brown is survived by his wife of 69 years, |
| 2 | | Peggy; his children, Michael (Teresa), Randy, Sheri (Jim |
| 3 | | Brokaw), and Tamara (Dennis Kellner); his grandchildren, Dr. |
| 4 | | Rhonda (Chad) Sowards, Matt Brown, Scott (Brooke) Zeitler, |
| 5 | | Jamie (Phil) Ledbetter, Drew (Jessie) Zeitler, Tony (Sarah) |
| 6 | | Brown, and Kendell (Lucas) DeWitt; and his |
| 7 | | great-grandchildren, Trace, Ava, Claire, Thomas, Randi Jo, |
| 8 | | Owen, Alice, Bennett, Maverick, Madelyn, Lane, Isabella, |
| 9 | | Rhett, and Baby girl DeWitt; therefore, be it
|
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL |
| 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 12 | | James H. "Jim" Brown and extend our sincere condolences to his |
| 13 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
| 14 | | further

| 15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 16 | | presented to the family of Jim Brown as an expression of our |
| 17 | | deepest sympathy.
