| 1 | | AN ACT concerning health.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Vital Records Act is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 17.1 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (410 ILCS 535/17.1 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 17.1. Redacted certificate of birth. |
| 8 | | (a) The Department shall issue a certificate of birth with |
| 9 | | the identity of the certifier redacted upon request by: |
| 10 | | (1) any person named on the certificate of birth, if |
| 11 | | the person is 18 years of age or older; |
| 12 | | (2) a parent of the person named on the certificate of |
| 13 | | birth; |
| 14 | | (3) the legal representative of the person named on |
| 15 | | the certificate of birth; or |
| 16 | | (4) an attorney at law authorized in writing by the |
| 17 | | person named on the certificate of birth. |
| 18 | | (b) The Department may adopt any rules necessary to |
| 19 | | implement the provisions of this Section.

| 20 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect 120 days |
| 21 | | after becoming law.
