HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The National Great Rivers Research and Education 
3Center (NGRREC) is dedicated to the study of great river 
4systems and the communities that use them and is a leader in 
5scholarly research, education, and outreach related to the 
6interconnectedness of large rivers, their floodplains, 
7watersheds, and their associated communities; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, The NGRREC was created through a collaboration 
9between the University of Illinois and Lewis and Clark 
10Community College in 2002; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Since that time, the NGRREC has become a national 
12leader in disseminating research and developing policy related 
13to fresh water systems from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of 
14Mexico; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, The NGRREC is and continues to be an important 
16and critical entity serving Illinois constituents at many 
17levels; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, The NGRREC celebrated its 20th anniversary in 
19East Alton on October 27, 2022; therefore, be it
  
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE

1HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
2we recognize the importance of the National Great Rivers 
3Research and Education Center (NGRREC) as a leader in fresh 
4water research and education; and be it further
  
 
5    RESOLVED, That we congratulate Executive Director Dr. Gary 
6Rolfe and the NGRREC on its 20th anniversary; and be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to the NGRREC as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
