| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Sergeant |
| 4 | | Major Florencio Cruz-Santiago, U.S. Army (Ret), who passed |
| 5 | | away on September 28, 2022; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, SGM Cruz-Santiago served his country gallantly as |
| 7 | | an infantry soldier for 30 years, including two and a half |
| 8 | | combat tours in the Republic of Vietnam; he retired honorably |
| 9 | | with the Combat Infantry Badge, the Drill Instructor Badge, |
| 10 | | the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, two Meritorious Service |
| 11 | | Medals, two Commendations, and multiple overseas ribbons and |
| 12 | | awards; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, In retirement, SGM Cruz-Santiago focused on his |
| 14 | | family, traveling to Puerto Rico, Panama, Aurora, Illinois, |
| 15 | | and Tampa, Florida; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, SGM Cruz-Santiago was an ever-present husband, |
| 17 | | brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend; he was known |
| 18 | | for being willing to do anything for someone in need; he was |
| 19 | | also generous to various churches with his time and resources; |
| 20 | | and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, SGM Cruz-Santiago's family has asked that he be |
