| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Cleve |
| 4 | | Klopfenstein, who passed away on July 23, 2022; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Cleve Klopfenstein was born to Ralph and |
| 6 | | Catherine (Slagell) Klopfenstein on May 19, 1947; he graduated |
| 7 | | from Gridley High School and Illinois State University; he |
| 8 | | served in the U.S. Army, where he received basic training at |
| 9 | | Fort Sam Houston, Texas before serving in Vietnam; he married |
| 10 | | Kathleen Steffen in Fairbury on August 13, 1972; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Cleve Klopfenstein began his career as a high |
| 12 | | school teacher at Peoria Central High School before working in |
| 13 | | commodities trading at Heinold Commodities; he returned to |
| 14 | | teaching at the Peoria Alternative High School, retiring in |
| 15 | | 2005; over the course of his career, he made significant |
| 16 | | contributions to the growth and development of countless |
| 17 | | students; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Cleve Klopfenstein was deeply committed to his |
| 19 | | faith and a long-time, active member of his local church; he |
| 20 | | had a willing heart for serving his community, Christian |
| 21 | | ministry organizations, and his church; and
|
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Cleve Klopfenstein had a contagious enthusiasm |
| 2 | | for life and enjoyed many hobbies, including hosting friends |
| 3 | | and family at his beloved lake cabin, fishing, photography, |
| 4 | | documenting memories, traveling, antique cars and scooters, |
| 5 | | arrowhead hunting, and telling stories and jokes; his three |
| 6 | | grandsons were his pride and joy; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Cleve Klopfenstein was quick to offer a kind word |
| 8 | | to every person who crossed his path; he will be remembered for |
| 9 | | his strength of character, easy-going and gentle spirit, |
| 10 | | positive attitude, sense of humor, wisdom, and undying love |
| 11 | | for his family and friends; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Cleve Klopfenstein was preceded in death by his |
| 13 | | parents; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Cleve Klopfenstein is survived by his wife, |
| 15 | | Kathleen Klopfenstein; his children, Crystal (Jay) Wettstein |
| 16 | | and Aaron (Kara) Klopfenstein; his grandsons, Caleb, Carter, |
| 17 | | and Cooper Klopfenstein; his brothers, Marty Klopfenstein, |
| 18 | | Stan Klopfenstein, and David Klopfenstein; his sisters, Gloria |
| 19 | | Volk, Judy (Dave) Knobloch, and Cathy (Tim) Hohulin; and his |
| 20 | | many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
