HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois of Representatives 
3wish to recognize the life and service of Dolores "Sister 
4Jean" Schmidt; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Sister Jean has become an iconic figure and has 
6touched many lives during her long but essential time here on 
7this planet; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Sister Jean has spent much of her life shaping 
9the campus life of Loyola University Chicago and has created 
10the foundation and culture that instills how critical it is to 
11do unto others as you would have others do unto you; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, Sister Jean has helped inspire many Loyola 
13University Chicago sports teams to achieve greater heights 
14than the world expected of them by helping student-athletes 
15maintain their grades so they could maintain their eligibility 
16to play, which evolved into her being the team chaplain for the 
17men's basketball team; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Though the men's basketball team has brought 
19Sister Jean fame, she still remains committed to her faith, to 
20which she has been devoted  for over a century and has used to 
21lift others; and

1    WHEREAS, With her smile, Sister Jean has shown the power 
2to make all a believer in the need to show grace and compassion 
3to all who are in want of help and support; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Sister Jean is the light that keeps on shining in 
5a dark world, and she will continue to be cherished as she 
6shapes more lives with her charm and historical knowledge that 
7will live inside others for eternity; therefore, be it
  
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
9HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
10we recognize the life and service of Dolores "Sister Jean" 
11Schmidt; and be it further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented to Sister Jean as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
