HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Chicago is the ideal city for hosting the 2024 
3Democratic National Convention (DNC); and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Chicago has an abundance of hotel rooms and 
5restaurants and a plethora of arts and culture for guests, and 
6it has a track record of successfully hosting such large-scale 
7events; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, In addition to Chicago's established ability to 
9host large gatherings, the city and State have strong 
10Democratic credentials and are located  near  several Midwestern  
11presidential battleground states, such as Wisconsin, Michigan, 
12and Iowa; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Illinois is at the center of some of the key 
14policies for the party, including infrastructure, broadband 
15access, and codifying Roe v. Wade, and our city and state, 
16consisting of a vibrant and diverse metropolis, thriving 
17suburbs, and strong rural communities, offer proof that the 
18Democratic party's policies deliver for American families; and
  
 
  
19    WHEREAS, Hosting the DNC in 2024 would be a great 
20opportunity to promote the city and state on an international 
21stage and would be the first political convention held in

1Chicago since 1996; therefore, be it
  
 
2    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
3HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
4we urge the Democratic National Committee to select  Chicago  as 
5the city to host the 2024 Democratic National Convention; and 
6be it further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8delivered to the Democratic National Committee.
