| 2 | | WHEREAS, The peaceful peoples of the world currently face |
| 3 | | a renewed energy crisis, marked by the feckless drift of key |
| 4 | | segments of global energy supply into totalitarian hands; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Much of the oil, gas, and other energy that |
| 6 | | currently flows, or until recently has flowed, into the stream |
| 7 | | of operating consumption of the world's peaceful peoples comes |
| 8 | | from non-allies of the United States; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, One of these non-allies is the Russian |
| 10 | | Federation; it is the largest geographic nation on earth, with |
| 11 | | the largest area of land mass and the largest access to |
| 12 | | geological resources that include oil and gas; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, The peaceful peoples of the world, especially the |
| 14 | | United States, ought not to buy oil and gas from non-allies; |
| 15 | | instead, we should redouble our efforts to gain true energy |
| 16 | | independence; therefore, be it
|
| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 18 | | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 19 | | the United States should not buy oil or gas from non-allies of |
| 20 | | our country, and we urge exerting diplomatic efforts to |
| 21 | | discourage other peaceful peoples of the world from doing so; |
