HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives would like to congratulate  the Lincoln 
4Technical Institute on its 75th anniversary; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, The Lincoln Technical Institute is located in the 
6beautiful city of Chicago and has a sister-campus located in 
7Melrose Park; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, The Lincoln Technical Institute's Chicago campus 
9was founded in 1902 and was originally known as the Greer 
10College of Automotive Engineering, later becoming the Greer 
11Technical Institute; for more than ten decades, the school 
12trained thousands of students in a variety of trades and 
13vocations; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, The Greer Technical Institute became part of the 
15Lincoln Institute in 1969 and subsequently    adopted the name of 
16Lincoln Technical Institute in 1981; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, In 2001, the Norridge and Oak Lawn campuses 
18merged and moved to a more modern facility in Melrose Park; the 
19Melrose Park campus changed its name to Lincoln College of 
20Technology in 2007; and

1    WHEREAS, The Lincoln Technical Institute was founded on 
2the principle of keeping our nation positioned as the world's 
3leading economy; as the country turned past World War II, the 
4school provided invaluable training programs to help returning 
5veterans rejoin the workforce; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Lincoln Technical Institute has provided 
7career training to individuals from all walks of life 
8throughout its history; the students who have attended the 
9schools have  launched fulfilling and productive careers; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, The Lincoln Technical Institute is extremely 
11proud of the work it have done over the years at the Lincoln 
12College of Technology, the Melrose Park campus, and all of   its 
13campuses throughout the nation; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, The Lincoln Technical Institute has helped more 
15than a quarter-million Lincoln graduates from all walks of 
16life take their lives in new, rewarding directions by 
17launching careers in the fields they love; therefore, be it
  
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
19HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
20we congratulate the Lincoln Technical Institute on the 
21institution's 75th anniversary and commend the achievements of 
22its current and former students; and be it further

2presented to the Lincoln Technical Institute as a symbol of 
3our esteem and respect.
