COVID-19, was first detected in |
| 4 | | Illinois in January of 2020, and the first COVID-19 related |
| 5 | | death in Illinois occurred on March 16, 2020; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The Illinois Department of Public Health has |
| 7 | | reported nearly 2.8 million cases across all counties and |
| 8 | | almost 30,000 COVID-related deaths; more Illinoisans have died |
| 9 | | of COVID-19 than died serving in World War I, World War II, and |
| 10 | | the war in Vietnam combined; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Thousands of those who have survived COVID-19 are |
| 12 | | still struggling with myriad symptoms of Long COVID-19; this |
| 13 | | range of symptoms can last weeks or months after someone is |
| 14 | | first infected or can appear weeks after infection; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, COVID-19 has had costly and disruptive impacts on |
| 16 | | Illinois residents and their families, businesses, |
| 17 | | institutions, and local and state governments; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Illinois' network of public health professionals, |
| 19 | | hospitals, and health care systems have battled relentlessly |
| 20 | | to prevent and treat COVID-19 and prevent related deaths; and
