| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to commend Les Morgan of Chatham for his | ||||||
| 4 | selfless volunteer service to the people of the Village of | ||||||
| 5 | Chatham; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Les Morgan was recognized by Chatham with an | ||||||
| 7 | honorary designation on Volunteer Drive at the Village of | ||||||
| 8 | Chatham Board meeting on September 28, 2021; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Les Morgan was recognized for his commitment and | ||||||
| 10 | dedication to his neighbors, which is unparalleled in the | ||||||
| 11 | Village of Chatham; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Les Morgan has been a member of the American | ||||||
| 13 | Legion for more than 20 years and has served as Commander, as | ||||||
| 14 | Post Service Officer, and in the Honor Guard and Color Guard; | ||||||
| 15 | and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Les Morgan was instrumental in the establishment | ||||||
| 17 | and placement of the Veterans' Memorial on the Chatham Square | ||||||
| 18 | and is instrumental in the ongoing upkeep of the memorial, | ||||||
| 19 | which is visited by residents and non-residents alike on a | ||||||
| 20 | daily basis; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Les Morgan has shown a deep love for our great | ||||||
| 2 | country through raising and lowering the American flag | ||||||
| 3 | throughout Chatham and through the placement of flags at the | ||||||
| 4 | headstones of veterans in Chatham cemeteries, as well as with | ||||||
| 5 | his service on the board of the Family Support Group of the Air | ||||||
| 6 | National Guard and his work with the Military Banner Program; | ||||||
| 7 | and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, While Les Morgan is a proud member of the Chatham | ||||||
| 9 | community, he is even prouder to be a father of four children | ||||||
| 10 | and a loving husband of over 54 years to his wife, Dodie; | ||||||
| 11 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 13 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 14 | we commend Les Morgan for his years of service to the people of | ||||||
| 15 | the Village of Chatham, and we wish him and his family many | ||||||
| 16 | years of happiness to come; and be it further
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 18 | presented to Les Morgan as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
