<synopsistitle></synopsistitle>
<reference>20 ILCS 2605/2605-490 new</reference><aliasreference></aliasreference><SynopsisText>     Amends the Illinois State Police Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Creates the Societal Effects of Social Media Task Force. Establishes membership. Provides that the Illinois State Police shall provide administrative support for the Task Force and the Director of the Illinois State Police may retain services from outside parties with legal or technical expertise to assist the Task Force in carrying out its duties. Provides that the Societal Effects of Social Media Task Force shall provide legislative recommendations to address social media addiction and its consequences, the use of social media for criminal activity, and the need for social media companies to protect their users from the negative effects of social media usage. Provides that the Task Force shall hold its first meeting at the call of the chairperson and at least once a month thereafter. Provides that the Task Force shall submit a final report to the Governor and General Assembly no later than December 31, 2023. Repeals provisions January 1, 2025.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
