| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of David Kenly Ashbrook of |
| 4 | | Bloomington-Normal, who passed away on August 9, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, David Ashbrook was born to Clara and Arthur |
| 6 | | Ashbrook on a small farm near Sullivan; he attended the |
| 7 | | University of Illinois where he met his wife, Norma; he |
| 8 | | graduated with his lieutenant bars from ROTC and then served |
| 9 | | two years in the Army; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, David Ashbrook had a long career in commercial |
| 11 | | real estate sales, through which he brought many companies and |
| 12 | | jobs to Bloomington-Normal; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, David Ashbrook was active in his community; he |
| 14 | | served as a Unit 5 School Board member for nine years, as |
| 15 | | president of the Corn Belt Council of School Boards, and as |
| 16 | | director of the Illinois Association of School Boards; he also |
| 17 | | served as president of the Friends of Milner Library and as |
| 18 | | president of the McLean County Historical Society; he was |
| 19 | | active in First Presbyterian Church and Habitat for Humanity |
| 20 | | and was a great enthusiast for Barn Keepers, the McLean |
| 21 | | County-based group devoted to preserving and celebrating old |
| 22 | | barns; he was chaplain of the Illinois Chapter of the Sons of |
