|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, the members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Elizabeth "Beth Ann" O'Reilly-Amandes who |
| 4 | | passed away on January 17, 2020, at the age of 64; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Beth Ann O'Reilly-Amandes was born in Chicago to |
| 6 | | Winifred and James O'Reilly on October 3, 1955; she was the |
| 7 | | seventh of fourteen children; she was raised in Crystal Lake; |
| 8 | | she attended St. Thomas Catholic School and Crystal Lake |
| 9 | | Community High School, where she sang in choirs and acted in |
| 10 | | plays; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Beth Ann O'Reilly-Amandes started dating her |
| 12 | | future husband Paul in 1974 while doing theater and leading |
| 13 | | music for St. Thomas Church, the Happening in Christianity, and |
| 14 | | later at the Newman Center of Northern Illinois University; |
| 15 | | while in married student housing, the couple forged lifelong |
| 16 | | friendships with several other young families; they were |
| 17 | | married at the Resurrection Center in Woodstock in 1980; they |
| 18 | | continued studying in DeKalb, where their first two children |
| 19 | | were born; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Beth Ann O'Reilly-Amandes and Paul moved their |
| 21 | | young family to Chicago; she served on the board of Call to |
| 22 | | Action and was the tour manager for their theater company; she |
|

| 1 | | also toured the country as an actor/singer in Call to Action |
| 2 | | Theatre's productions "Between The Times" and "PeaceWorks", |
| 3 | | often with Paul, his brother Tom, Beth Ann's brother Eugene, |
| 4 | | her sister Jamie, and her sister-in-law Tammy; she continued to |
| 5 | | perform with her family and friends in various Chicago |
| 6 | | companies throughout her life, including the Curious Theatre |
| 7 | | Branch, Bottom of Your Shoe Theatre Collective, and Open Door |
| 8 | | Repertory; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Beth Ann O'Reilly-Amandes moved to Oak Park with |
| 10 | | her family in 1989 and became very involved in the St. Giles |
| 11 | | Family Mass Community; for the next 30 years at St. Giles, she |
| 12 | | served on the Council of Pastors, was an active liturgy |
| 13 | | director, mentored children of the Mass Community, and was also |
| 14 | | a featured liturgical singer and soloist; she became the |
| 15 | | manager of Logos Bookstore in Oak Park from 2000 until they |
| 16 | | closed in 2006; she worked at Community Bank and trained in |
| 17 | | early childhood education; she was the beloved nanny for the |
| 18 | | Rosado and Holzer-Lopez families during the 2010s; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Beth Ann O'Reilly-Amandes was a devoted and |
| 20 | | favorite client at the Buzz Cafe and Oak Park Chiropractic; she |
| 21 | | enjoyed traveling frequently to visit family on the West Coast, |
| 22 | | in New York, and in London, where her daughter Sarah lives with |
| 23 | | her family; she took her final trip in December 2019 and spent |
| 24 | | a magical Christmas in York, England surrounded by her husband, |
|

| 1 | | children, and grandchildren; and
|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, Beth Ann O'Reilly-Amandes is survived by her |
| 3 | | husband, Paul; her children, Michael and Sarah Amandes; her |
| 4 | | son-in-law, Charlie Hanover; her grandchildren, David and Kate |
| 5 | | Hanover; her siblings, Willem, Cecilie (Leonard Brooks), Chris |
| 6 | | (Katrina), Gloria, Beau, Dorothy (Billy Imm), Kate, Jamie, Ned |
| 7 | | (Kathleen), Henri (Don Peters), Eugene (Tammy), Bridget (John |
| 8 | | Wagner), and Bernadette (Don Haderlein); and her many extended |
| 9 | | family members; therefore, be it
|
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
| 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 12 | | Elizabeth "Beth Ann" O'Reilly-Amandes and extend our sincere |
| 13 | | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved |
| 14 | | her; and be it further
|
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 16 | | presented to the family of Elizabeth "Beth Ann" |
| 17 | | O'Reilly-Amandes as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
