SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert L. "Bob" Volk of Bloomington, who passed away on April 1, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Bob Volk was born in Springfield to Adolph and Bertha (Curry) Volk on May 23, 1939; he married Sharon C. Fathauer in Springfield on March 3, 1962; he served in the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964; and

WHEREAS, Bob Volk worked for Springfield Electric Supply Company for 39 years in multiple capacities, culminating in his role as senior vice president and district manager; he retired on December 30, 2003; and

WHEREAS, Bob Volk served as a trustee for the Bloomington Township Fire Department and on the board of the American Red Cross of the Heartland; and

WHEREAS, Bob Volk was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan; he enjoyed attending Illinois State University Redbird basketball games, deer and turkey hunting with his friends, and supporting the community in a number of ways; and

WHEREAS, Bob Volk loved his family, especially spending time with his six grandchildren, and will be missed by all who knew him; and

WHEREAS, Bob Volk was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Bertha Hostick; and

WHEREAS, Bob Volk is survived by his wife, Sharon Volk; his children, Melissa Hager, Jill Volk, and Scott (Abi) Volk; his grandchildren, Jeff Hager, Jason Hager, Anne Volk Porter, Mark Volk Porter, Connor Volk, and Zoe Volk; his sister, Frances Knox; and his several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert L. "Bob" Volk and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bob Volk as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
