| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of E. Philip Fager Jr. of Murphysboro, who |
| 4 | | passed away on January 23, 2020; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Philip Fager Jr. was born in the Old Zion part of |
| 6 | | Somerset Township to Ernest P. Fager and Alice (Mileur) Fager |
| 7 | | on April 28, 1922; he joined the U.S. Army in 1942 and served |
| 8 | | his country until 1945; he was awarded the Purple Heart; he |
| 9 | | married his first wife Geraldine "Gerry" O'Guinn at the First |
| 10 | | Lutheran Church in Murphysboro on March 30, 1947, and she |
| 11 | | preceded him in death on July 30, 1994; he later married |
| 12 | | Elizabeth Williams at the First Lutheran Church of Murphysboro |
| 13 | | on October 7, 1995, and she survives; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Alongside his brothers, Philip Fager Jr. owned and |
| 15 | | operated Fager Brothers Construction from 1954 to 1980; they |
| 16 | | worked throughout southern Illinois; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Philip Fager Jr. was a lifelong member of the |
| 18 | | First Lutheran Church of Murphysboro; he was also a member of |
| 19 | | the Carpenter's Union Local #638; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Philip Fager Jr. was preceded in death by his |
| 21 | | parents; his brothers, Danny, E.J., Victor, and Robert Fager; |
