SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Brian David Kelly of Champaign, who passed away on January 21, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Brian Kelly was born in Vandalia on September 19, 1974; he graduated from Vandalia Community High School and Southern Illinois University, where he majored in political science; he married Megan Louise Coblentz on February 5, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Brian Kelly was a dedicated public servant, working for the Illinois State Legislature, two congressmen, and finally as Chief Deputy Circuit Clerk for Champaign County; he was a passionate problem-solver; he helped people with their most challenging issues, whether it was driving a person in need to a job interview or calling every agency contact he knew to help a family through a difficult immigration process; colleagues will remember him as a true partner and a steadfast supporter; and

WHEREAS, Brian Kelly enjoyed traveling with his wife, particularly to the San Francisco Bay area and to Pawleys Island in South Carolina; he also enjoyed golfing and reading American history; he was known for his humor and wit; and

WHEREAS, Brian Kelly is survived by his wife; his parents, Robert Michael "Mike" and Paulette (Bandelow) Kelly; his brother, Joseph Kelly; his sister, Jennifer (Randy) Barton; his nephews, Jakob and Nicholas "Nick"; his dog, Harper; and other cherished family members and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Brian David Kelly and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Brian Kelly as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
