| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Ernie A. Smith, who passed away on |
| 4 | | February 4, 2019 at the age of 48; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ernie Smith was born on January 29, 1970; he was |
| 6 | | known as "the most dapper kid on the block" during his |
| 7 | | childhood; although he was well-dressed, the most charming and |
| 8 | | impressive part of his style was his smile that was freely and |
| 9 | | easily given to everyone around him; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Ernie Smith attended Deck Preschool and |
| 11 | | Kindergarten, Longfellow Grade School, and Hawthorne Junior |
| 12 | | High School; he graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High |
| 13 | | School in 1988; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Ernie Smith joined the United States Navy in San |
| 15 | | Diego, where he made lifelong connections and friends who |
| 16 | | became like brothers; he learned valuable lessons that |
| 17 | | benefited him later in life when he worked as a catastrophic |
| 18 | | claims adjuster and faced challenges during the aftermath of |
| 19 | | events like Hurricanes Katrina and Sandy; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Ernie Smith had a heart for learning; he attended |
| 21 | | classes at Temple University to expand his knowledge and |
