| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Leon Mudd of Moline, who passed away on |
| 4 | | August 5, 2019; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Leon Mudd was born in Millwood, Missouri to Olin |
| 6 | | and Mary (Miller) Mudd on April 27, 1928; he married Elaine |
| 7 | | Marie Gustafson at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Moline on |
| 8 | | April 3, 1951 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean |
| 9 | | War; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Leon Mudd started a career in sheet metal work at |
| 11 | | Crawford Heating and Cooling in Rock Island; he later worked as |
| 12 | | a pipefitter at John Deere Davenport Works, retiring in May |
| 13 | | 1992; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Leon Mudd was a jack-of-all-trades, and he could |
| 15 | | build just about anything and everything; he enjoyed fishing |
| 16 | | and meeting up with friends for coffee; he owned a restored |
| 17 | | Ford 8N Tractor; he loved to help others, and everyone loved |
| 18 | | his sense of humor; he was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church |
| 19 | | in Moline; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Leon Mudd was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 21 | | his stepmother, Ruby Schuck-Mudd; his brothers, Herman, Cal, |
|

| 1 | | and Pete Mudd; and his sisters, Bernice Dwyer, Jeanette |
| 2 | | Johnson, Mary Agnes Wells, and Rita Ashton; and
|
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Leon Mudd is survived by his wife of 68 years, |
| 4 | | Elaine; his children, Brenda Ellsworth and Diane (Terry) |
| 5 | | Snipes; his grandchildren, Jeff (Tracee) Ellsworth, Elizabeth |
| 6 | | (Chet) DeSmet, Greg (Lindsay) Snipes, and Stephanie (Ben) |
| 7 | | Dasso; his great-grandchildren, Emily Soricelli, Evan |
| 8 | | Soricelli, Connor Ellsworth, Ashlyn DeSmet, and Audrey Snipes; |
| 9 | | his sister, Olean Rohr; his brother, Earl Schuck; and many |
| 10 | | nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
|
| 11 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL |
| 12 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 13 | | Leon Mudd and extend our sincere condolences to his family, |
| 14 | | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
|
| 15 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 16 | | presented to the family of Leon Mudd as an expression of our |
| 17 | | deepest sympathy.
