| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Ross W. Wherry of Moline, who passed away |
| 4 | | on June 7, 2019; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ross Wherry was born in Springfield to Richard and |
| 6 | | Doris Wherry on November 30, 1952; he was the first Eagle Scout |
| 7 | | from Orion Troop 123; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Ross Wherry traveled the world helping others; he |
| 9 | | served in the United States Marine Corps and the State |
| 10 | | Department (USAID) and was stationed in Africa, Europe, Central |
| 11 | | and South America, the Middle East, and Asia; he saved sea |
| 12 | | turtles, helped farmers, encouraged education, improved access |
| 13 | | to medical care and clean water, and worked to repair |
| 14 | | infrastructure in war-torn countries; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Ross Wherry mastered several languages, sang in |
| 16 | | community and church choirs, played the French horn, and |
| 17 | | enjoyed the arts; he was an enthusiastic travel guide and |
| 18 | | history buff; he nurtured gardens, hiked in the National Parks, |
| 19 | | and remained involved in local theatres and historical |
| 20 | | preservation; he always found time for a glass of wine, a good |
| 21 | | cheese, a thick book, a hearty laugh, and sharing stories with |
| 22 | | family and friends; and
