| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Robert "Rob" Amling of Tower Hill, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on May 29, 2019; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Rob Amling was born in Pana to Martin and Jean | ||||||
| 6 | (Alde) Amling on June 6, 1950; he graduated from Pana High | ||||||
| 7 | School in 1968 and received his Bachelor of Science in | ||||||
| 8 | Horticulture in 1972 from the University of Illinois; he | ||||||
| 9 | married Debbie DeRochi in the First Presbyterian Church in | ||||||
| 10 | Taylorville on October 27, 1979; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Rob Amling was a commercial horticulturist; he was | ||||||
| 12 | the owner and operator of the Cold Springs Greenhouse in rural | ||||||
| 13 | Tower Hill since 1973; he opened the Junction Garden Center in | ||||||
| 14 | Pana in 1986, running both businesses with his wife; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Rob Amling was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran | ||||||
| 16 | Church in Pana, where he served as president and as an elder; | ||||||
| 17 | he served on the Tower Hill Fire Protection District Board of | ||||||
| 18 | Trustees, the Pana Community Hospital Board of Directors, the | ||||||
| 19 | Pana Community Hospital Foundation Board of Directors, the Pana | ||||||
| 20 | Area Chamber of Commerce (President), the Christian County | ||||||
| 21 | Economic Development Board, and the University of Illinois | ||||||
| 22 | Dudley Smith Farm Advisory Board; he also served as Cold Spring | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | Township Supervisor; and | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Rob Amling was involved in the formation of | ||||||
| 3 | Tri-County Quail Unlimited; most recently, he served on the | ||||||
| 4 | Shelby County Board, the Shelby County Housing Authority Board, | ||||||
| 5 | the Shelby County Republican Central Committee, and the Shelby | ||||||
| 6 | County Economic Development Board; he was a member of the | ||||||
| 7 | Kaskaskia Watershed Association and chairman of the Heartland | ||||||
| 8 | Resource Conservation and Development Council; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Rob Amling was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
| 10 | and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Rob Amling is survived by his wife, Debbie; his | ||||||
| 12 | daughter, Stacie (Glenn) Sherman; his grandson, Aiden Sherman; | ||||||
| 13 | his siblings, Christine (Lynn) Bishop, Jennifer Young, and | ||||||
| 14 | Carol (Dwight) Vasel; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, | ||||||
| 15 | nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
| 17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 18 | Robert "Rob" Amling and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 19 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 20 | further
| ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
