| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Donna Zarcone on her | ||||||
| 4 | retirement as president and CEO of the Economic Club of | ||||||
| 5 | Chicago; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Born in Westchester, Donna Zarcone earned a Master | ||||||
| 7 | of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth | ||||||
| 8 | School of Business following a bachelor's degree in accounting | ||||||
| 9 | from Illinois State University; she worked for a public | ||||||
| 10 | accounting firm and became president of Harley-Davidson | ||||||
| 11 | Financial Services before launching her own firm, D.F. Zarcone & | ||||||
| 12 | Associates LLC; Donna joined the Economic Club of Chicago in | ||||||
| 13 | 1999; she became president in 2012; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, The purpose of the Economic Club of Chicago is to | ||||||
| 15 | foster meaningful connections among Chicago leaders to | ||||||
| 16 | encourage dialogue on important economic and social issues and | ||||||
| 17 | to cultivate the next generation of leadership; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Donna Zarcone is credited with diversifying the | ||||||
| 19 | Club's membership, improving programming, and spurring revenue | ||||||
| 20 | during her eight years as president and CEO; under her | ||||||
| 21 | leadership, the share of female members grew from 22 percent to | ||||||
| 22 | 30 percent and non-white membership grew from 10 percent to 17 | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | percent; the Club's 47-member board is now one-third female and | ||||||
| 2 | one-third racially diverse; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Donna Zarcone currently serves on the corporate | ||||||
| 4 | boards of the Cigna Corporation, CDW, and The Duchossois Group; | ||||||
| 5 | she previously served on the board of The Jones Group and of | ||||||
| 6 | Wrightwood Capital; she also serves on the board of the Polsky | ||||||
| 7 | Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Chicago Booth | ||||||
| 8 | School of Business; she is a member of the Commercial Club of | ||||||
| 9 | Chicago, the Committee of 200, the Chicago Network, and the | ||||||
| 10 | Young Presidents' Organization; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Donna Zarcone is known as a great motivator with a | ||||||
| 12 | calm demeanor and a knack for pulling events together on short | ||||||
| 13 | notice; with four weeks warning and amid heavy security for the | ||||||
| 14 | 2012 NATO conference in Chicago, she and her staff booked a | ||||||
| 15 | venue and hosted 350 attendees for an appearance by Gen. Martin | ||||||
| 16 | Dempsey, then chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; therefore, | ||||||
| 17 | be it | ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 19 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 20 | we congratulate Donna Zarcone for her retirement as president | ||||||
| 21 | and CEO of the Economic Club of Chicago and on her many | ||||||
| 22 | accomplishments; and be it further
