| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Miss White County Fair | ||||||
| 4 | Queen Kelsi Kessler on being named Miss Illinois County Fair | ||||||
| 5 | Queen; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Kelsi Kessler, 18, of Carmi, was crowned the 61st | ||||||
| 7 | Miss Illinois County Fair Queen while representing White County | ||||||
| 8 | at the 110th Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs | ||||||
| 9 | Convention; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, The pageant was hosted by the Illinois Association | ||||||
| 11 | of Agricultural Fairs at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Springfield | ||||||
| 12 | from January 17 to 19, 2020; in total, this year's convention | ||||||
| 13 | had more than 3,000 in attendance; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, In August of last year, 25 years after her mother | ||||||
| 15 | was honored as White County Fair Queen, Kelsi Kessler was | ||||||
| 16 | crowned with the same title; 167 days later, Kelsi was crowned | ||||||
| 17 | Miss Illinois State County Fair Queen; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Kelsi Kessler notes that winning the crown and | ||||||
| 19 | participating in the State pageant was, for her, less about the | ||||||
| 20 | competition and more about self-growth, getting to know people | ||||||
| 21 | and developing as a public speaker; although a lot went into | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | preparing for the pageant, she felt it was much like competing | ||||||
| 2 | on the county level, aside from higher stakes and additional | ||||||
| 3 | events; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Kelsi Kessler currently attends the University of | ||||||
| 5 | Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where she majors in accounting; | ||||||
| 6 | and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Kelsi Kessler will be a summer employee of the | ||||||
| 8 | Department of Agriculture; she will also travel to an estimated | ||||||
| 9 | 30 county fairs and will be the official hostess of the | ||||||
| 10 | Illinois State Fair in Springfield and the DuQuoin State Fair; | ||||||
| 11 | and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, As queen, Kelsi Kessler's main duty is to | ||||||
| 13 | emphasize the importance of agriculture and county fairs to | ||||||
| 14 | Illinois; she got her start in agriculture with FFA; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Kelsi Kessler's father Curt is the plant manager | ||||||
| 16 | of Champion Laboratories, Inc. in Albion, and her mother Kara | ||||||
| 17 | is a banker; her grandfather operates a farm in Carmi; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Kelsi Kessler has her own video series on YouTube | ||||||
| 19 | called "Crowned with Confidence," where she encourages young | ||||||
| 20 | people to have confidence in whatever they attempt; therefore, | ||||||
| 21 | be it

| 1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 2 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 3 | we congratulate Miss White County Fair Queen Kelsi Kessler on | ||||||
| 4 | being named Miss Illinois County Fair Queen, and we commend her | ||||||
| 5 | hard work as a college student and an active role model in our | ||||||
| 6 | State; and be it further
| ||||||
| 7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 8 | presented to Kelsi Kessler as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 9 | respect.
