| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives
wish to congratulate Herscher High School |
| 4 | | sophomore Drew Rogers on winning the 2019 Illinois High School |
| 5 | | Association Class 1A Cross Country State Championship in the |
| 6 | | three mile competition; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Before becoming the second State champion from |
| 8 | | Herscher High
School and the first since 1989, Drew Rogers, as |
| 9 | | a freshman, competed at the Illinois State
Track Championships |
| 10 | | in the 3200 meter competition; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Drew Rogers is the middle of three children within |
| 12 | | his family; he is a local standout and is often observed in the |
| 13 | | community as he trains; he worships at Trinity Lutheran Church |
| 14 | | in Herscher, where he participates in the Lutheran Youth |
| 15 | | Fellowship; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, The Herscher High School
boys cross country team, |
| 17 | | coached by Rob Grosso, placed 14th in the 2019 Class 1A
State |
| 18 | | Finals; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Building upon his outstanding athletic talent, |
| 20 | | Drew Rogers has exhibited
a commitment to his sport, rigorously |
| 21 | | training to compete at the top of
the cross country field; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, En route to his victory at the State level, Drew |
| 2 | | Rogers advanced through
both the Bishop McNamara 1A Regional on |
| 3 | | October 26, 2019 with a time of fifteen
minutes and thirty |
| 4 | | seconds in the three mile race and the Lisle 1A Sectional
on |
| 5 | | November 2, 2019 with a winning time of sixteen minutes and |
| 6 | | five seconds
in the 5,000 meter race; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, During the championship on November 9, 2019, Drew |
| 8 | | Rogers set his personal record for the three mile race at
|
| 9 | | fourteen minutes and thirty seconds; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Drew Rogers' winning time broke a Herscher High |
| 11 | | School record at the
State championship, a record that had been |
| 12 | | held for three decades;
his winning time is now the second |
| 13 | | fastest time for a sophomore in the event; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, The second half of Drew Rogers' high school cross |
| 15 | | country career will
continue in the fall of 2020; therefore, be |

| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 18 | | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
