HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Illinois Wesleyan 
4University's men's golf team on winning the 2019 NCAA Division 
5III National Championship at the Keene Trace Golf Club in 
6Nicholasville, Kentucky on May 17; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Illinois Wesleyan has made 13 consecutive NCAA 
8Division III championship appearances; its
previous high 
9finish was second place in 2011; IWU has won eight straight 
10conference
championships and a total of 21 conference golf 
11titles, including 16 under head coach Jim Ott since
2001; men's 
12golf at Illinois Wesleyan has been a part of the College 
13Conference of
Illinois and Wisconsin since 1947; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Head Coach Jim Ott was named the NCAA Division III 
15Dave Williams National Coach of the Year presented by Golf 
16Pride Grips; the assistant coaches are Karl Keller and Conner 
17O'Neil; the athletic director is Mike Wagner; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Wesleyan University's 
19men's golf team are Andrew Abel, Carl Christiansen, Daniel 
20Cole, Michael Holtz, Ben Johnson, Austin Jump, Skylar LeVine, 
21Jimmy Morton, Jonathan Nocek, Will Nummy, Justin Park, Drew 
22Pershing, Justin Seymour, and Rob Wuethrich; and

1    WHEREAS, Drew Pershing, Ben Johnson, Andrew Abel, Skylar 
2LeVine, and Rob Wuethrich were named
Division III PING 
3All-Central Region players; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Drew Pershing earned All-American status with his 
5top 10 finish and tied for ninth in the
championships; other 
6members who placed are Ben Johnson, Rob Wuethrich, Andrew Abel, 
7and Skylar LeVine; therefore, be it
 


  
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
9HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
10we congratulate the Illinois Wesleyan University's men's golf 
11team on winning the 2019 NCAA Division III National 
12Championship and wish them many more successful years; and be 
13it further
  
 
14    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
15presented to the members and coaches of the Illinois Wesleyan 
16University's men's golf team as a symbol of our respect and 
17esteem.
