| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Stanton | ||||||
| 4 | Joseph Bond, who passed away on February 13, 2019; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Stanton Bond was born in Turlock, California to | ||||||
| 6 | Joseph and Norma Bond on July 22, 1949; he graduated from | ||||||
| 7 | Southern Illinois University in 1971, where he was on the | ||||||
| 8 | Dean's list and earned a degree in advertising, marketing, and | ||||||
| 9 | public relations; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, While in school, Stanton Bond interned for the | ||||||
| 11 | Carbondale City Manager's Office and excelled in his work; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, While pursuing his master's degree, Stanton Bond | ||||||
| 13 | received several awards for his work, including a commendation | ||||||
| 14 | from Mayor Neil Eckert and a citation from Governor Richard B. | ||||||
| 15 | Ogilvie for service to Carbondale; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Following his passion for city planning and | ||||||
| 17 | building, Stanton Bond served as an elected official in several | ||||||
| 18 | capacities for over 20 years; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Outside of his career as an elected official, | ||||||
| 20 | Stanton Bond continued his passion for development, working as | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | an Assistant Director of Industrial Development in Carbondale; | ||||||
| 2 | and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, Stanton Bond helped found Hamilton and Bond | ||||||
| 4 | Advertising, Inc., where he also served as president; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Stanton Bond recently served as the Chief Deputy | ||||||
| 6 | Clerk for the Kane County Clerk's Office; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Stanton Bond trained for and organized a | ||||||
| 8 | Neighborhood Watch in his own subdivision and served as a | ||||||
| 9 | captain for that effort; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Stanton Bond was the Chairperson of Montgomery's | ||||||
| 11 | Beautification Committee; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Stanton Bond was a founding member of the | ||||||
| 13 | Montgomery Foundation, which provides scholarships to | ||||||
| 14 | Montgomery students and funds special needs classes in | ||||||
| 15 | elementary schools; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Stanton Bond enjoyed spending time with family and | ||||||
| 17 | friends, especially during community events; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Stanton Bond was an avid boater, fisherman, and | ||||||
| 19 | motorcyclist; therefore, be it
| ||||||

| 1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 2 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 3 | we mourn the passing of Stanton Joseph Bond and extend our | ||||||
| 4 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
| 5 | and loved him; and be it further
| ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 7 | presented to the family of Stanton Bond as an expression of our | ||||||
| 8 | deepest sympathy.
