HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives recognize the Africa Union Decision 
4EX.CL/Dec.21 (VII) of the adopted definition of the Diaspora: 
5"The African Diaspora consists of peoples of African origin 
6living outside the continent, irrespective of their 
7citizenship and nationality and who are willing to contribute 
8to the development of the continent and the building of the 
9African Union"; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, The Africa Union Decision EX.CL/Dec.221 divides 
11the African Diaspora into two categories, people of African 
12heritage who "involuntarily" migrated to North American, 
13Europe, the Caribbean, Brazil, and Latin America, Oceania, etc. 
14and persons who recently left Africa "voluntarily"; and
  
 


  
15    WHEREAS, The Africa Union Decision EX.CL/Dec.221 
16establishes the "Diaspora As Africa's Sixth Region" and the 
17"African Diaspora Sixth Region Illinois Chapter"; therefore, 
18be it
  
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
20HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
21we congratulate H.E. Ambassador Arikana Chihombori QUAO on the 
22launch of the African Diaspora Sixth Region Illinois Chapter;

1and be it further
  
 
2    RESOLVED, That we commend the contribution of H.E. Arikana 
3Chihombori and welcome her for the official launch of the 
4African Diaspora Sixth Region Illinois Chapter at the DuSable 
5Museum of African American History on June 14, 2019; and be it 
6further
  
 
7    RESOLVED, That we commend the contribution of Mr. Olivier 
8Kamanzi, Chairman of the Africa Global Chamber of Commerce and 
9congratulate him on his nomination as the new Chairman of the 
10African Diaspora Sixth Region Illinois Chapter; and be it 
11further
  
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented to H.E. Ambassador Arikana Chihombori QUAO as an 
14expression of our esteem and respect.
