<synopsistitle></synopsistitle>
<reference>735 ILCS 5/13-202.2</reference><aliasreference>from Ch. 110, par. 13-202.2</aliasreference><SynopsisText>Amends the Limitations Article of the Code of Civil Procedure. Provides that if there is evidence that childhood sexual abuse was committed by a person who holds a position of trust, authority, or supervision over the minor victim, and that person fraudulently concealed a cause of action from the knowledge of the minor victim, the action may be commenced at any time within 5 years after the person entitled to bring the action discovers that he or she has such cause of action, and any repose or limitation period is tolled during that 5-year period. Effective immediately.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>Senate Committee Amendment No. 1</synopsistitle>
<SynopsisText>Replaces everything after the enacting clause with the provisions of the introduced bill, and makes the following changes: Provides that the limitation period for damages for personal injury based on childhood sexual abuse do not run during a time period when the person abused is subject to fraudulent concealment by the abuser or by any person acting in the interest of the abuser. Deletes language providing that if there is evidence that the sexual abuse was committed by a person who holds a position of trust, authority, or supervision in relation to the minor victim, and that person fraudulently concealed a cause of action from the knowledge of the minor victim, the action may be commenced at any time within 5 years after the person entitled to bring the action discovers that he or she has such cause of action, and any repose or limitation period is tolled during that 5-year period.
