| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Herbert Casper Spahn of Moline, who |
| 4 | | passed away on September 10, 2018; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Herbert Spahn was born in Chicago to Jacob and |
| 6 | | Elizabeth (Dietzel) Stahl on November 6, 1917; he was raised by |
| 7 | | his mother and stepfather, Albert Spahn; he married Nellie |
| 8 | | Johnson in Moline on December 31, 1938; he served in the United |
| 9 | | States Navy During World War II; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Herbert Spahn worked as a machinist at |
| 11 | | International Harvester East Moline Works for 37 years and |
| 12 | | retired in 1978; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Herbert Spahn was active in the Masonic |
| 14 | | Fraternity, where he was a longtime member of the Moline Lodge |
| 15 | | 1014, AF & AM, now Doric Lodge 319; he was also a member of the |
| 16 | | Valley of Moline Scottish Rite, the Kaaba Shrine, the Zal |
| 17 | | Grotto, and the Moline Chapter 258 of the Order of the Eastern |
| 18 | | Star; he also belonged to the American Legion Post 569 in |
| 19 | | Milan; he was passionate about vegetable gardening; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Herbert Spahn was preceded in death by his wife, |
| 21 | | Nellie; his brothers, Richard, Ernest, and Victor Spahn; and |
