| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Richard B. "Dick" Whitlock of |
| 4 | | Bloomington, who passed away on June 12, 2018; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dick Whitlock was born in Jefferson City, Missouri |
| 6 | | to Bert Mills and Jane Edna Bingemann Whitlock on June 1, 1943; |
| 7 | | he was an Eagle Scout and throughout high school and college |
| 8 | | worked on Boy Scout camp staffs; he graduated from Gustavus |
| 9 | | Adolphus College with a Bachelor of Science in Business |
| 10 | | Education; he later earned an Master of Business Administration |
| 11 | | from the University of Illinois and married Susan Steinkamp on |
| 12 | | June 12, 1965; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Dick Whitlock taught high school business in |
| 14 | | Adrian, Minnesota; he then served for 10 years as a Boy Scout |
| 15 | | Executive in Wisconsin, Indiana, and Illinois; in 1976, he |
| 16 | | began working at Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) and led the |
| 17 | | talented team whose achievements enabled the building of the |
| 18 | | Evelyn Chapel, the Shirk Center, Ames Library, and the Science |
| 19 | | Center; after 28 years at IWU, he retired as Vice President of |
| 20 | | University Advancement; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Dick Whitlock was an active member of the |
| 22 | | Resurrection Lutheran Church, where he enjoyed coordinating |
