| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Richard "Dick" Zaranto of Woodstock, who |
| 4 | | passed away on April 28, 2018; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dick Zaranto was born in Chicago to Peter and |
| 6 | | Irene (Forsberg) Zaranto on January 26, 1927; he joined the |
| 7 | | United States Navy at the end of World War II in 1946; |
| 8 | | following his two-year term, he returned home and married |
| 9 | | Marilyn Ratajczak at Bethany Lutheran Church in Chicago on |
| 10 | | April 18, 1948; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Dick Zaranto was first employed by W.A. Brown |
| 12 | | Manufacturing Company in Chicago; in 1951, they asked him to |
| 13 | | move with the company to Woodstock, where he was plant manager |
| 14 | | for 25 years; he then got his real estate license and worked |
| 15 | | for Byrnes Bros. Realty, where he won many awards for sales; he |
| 16 | | also worked as a rural carrier for the Woodstock Post Office |
| 17 | | for 15 years; he retired in 1970; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Dick Zaranto was active in his community, |
| 19 | | including as a member of the Woodstock Moose Lodge, where he |
| 20 | | served as governor for two terms; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Dick Zaranto enjoyed fishing and golfing and was a |
