SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois has become a major center 
3for energy production and storage in the
United States; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Illinois stores the second highest amount of 
5natural gas in the United
States; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Department of Natural Resources regulates gas 
7operations in the State; and
  
 

  
8    WHEREAS, The safety of Illinois residents is a priority for 
9the Department of Natural Resources
when developing new 
10regulations; therefore, be it
  
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the Department of 
13Natural Resources shall compile a report reviewing the current 
14regulations for gas pipelines in Illinois and make 
15recommendations for changes of those regulations to improve 
16public safety; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That the report shall include a review of the 
18regulations applicable to gas
extraction, as well as 
19underground gas storage; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That this report shall be sent to the Senate 
2President and Senate Minority Leader, the Speaker of the
House 
3and House Minority Leader, and the Office of the Governor, no 
4later than December 31, 2018.
