| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Robert Dean Stuart of Edwardsville, who |
| 4 | | passed away on January 17, 2018; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bob Stuart was born in Granite City to James and |
| 6 | | Verna Diehle Stuart on April 10, 1939; he graduated from |
| 7 | | Granite City High School in 1957; he then attended Missouri |
| 8 | | Valley College where he was a member of the Sigma Nu |
| 9 | | fraternity, lettered in basketball and golf, and graduated in |
| 10 | | 1961; he earned a master's degree in education administration |
| 11 | | from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville; he married |
| 12 | | Sandra Stephens at the Van Brunt Presbyterian Church in Kansas |
| 13 | | City, Missouri on June 25, 1961; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Bob Stuart had a long and distinguished career |
| 15 | | with the Edwardsville School District, which he began as a |
| 16 | | science teacher and coach for Edwardsville Junior High School |
| 17 | | in 1961; he was then named Assistant Principal of the junior |
| 18 | | high and went on to be the Principal of Glen Carbon Elementary |
| 19 | | School; in 1983, he was promoted to Director of Instruction for |
| 20 | | the district and then named Assistant Superintendent in Charge |
| 21 | | of Curriculum; in 1991, he was named Superintendent of Schools |
| 22 | | and remained in that position until he retired in 1996; he |
| 23 | | considered the passing of the referendum and overseeing the |
