SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of Alexandros "Alex" Mantis, who passed away 
4on December 8, 2017; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Alex Mantis was born in Logga, Greece to Penelope 
6and Grigorios Mantis on June 24, 1924; he married  Panagiota 
7Mantis on May 4, 1952; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Alex Mantis lived and worked as a photographer in 
9Greece until he moved to Waukegan in 1967;  he was a proud 
10employee of Abbott Laboratories; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Alex Mantis could be found laughing, socializing, 
12making wine, spending time with his family, and Greek dancing; 
13his pride and love for his village of Logga, Greece was 
14abundant in his life; he would visit often and tend to his vast 
15olive groves; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Alex Mantis was preceded in death by his wife, 
17Panagiota; his parents; and one brother; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Alex Mantis is survived by his children, Greg 
19(Pam) Mantis and Popi (Angelo) Tzavaras; his grandchildren, 
20Kosta (Betsy) Tzavaras, Alexi (Amy) Tzavaras, Lena (Paul)

1Rosenthal, Alexi Mantis, and Daniel Mantis; and his 
2great-grandchildren, Penelope and  Angelo Tzavaras and Olivia  
3and Dean Rosenthal; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
6Alexandros "Alex" Mantis, and extend our sincere condolences to 
7his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 
8further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to  the family of  Alex Mantis as an expression of our 
11deepest sympathy.
