SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, On November 18, 1967, Jim Mixon joined with the 
3Junior Women's Club and the Wood Dale Club to establish the 
4Wood Dale Park District; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, In 1968, the first property, Mohawk Manor, was 
6purchased from Addison Township; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, In 1976, the Park District joined the Northeast 
8DuPage Recreation Association; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Throughout the years, the Wood Dale Park District 
10has added a pool, a senior citizens club, a nature center, 
11nature trails, playgrounds, a police ranger program, a golf 
12club, a water park, a gazebo, a recreation complex, and most 
13recently, a dog park; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, In 2007, TopGolf Wood Dale opened up in support of 
15the Salt Creek Golf Club; it was awarded the 2008 Best 
16Administration of Facilities Award in Illinois Park and 
17Recreation Magazine; and
 
18    WHEREAS, The Wood Dale Park District adopted a new mission 
19statement in 2014, "Serving the community with quality 
20recreational experiences that provide a fun and healthy

1lifestyle"; in 2016, it adopted a new tag line, "Active Places. 
2Friendly Faces"; and
 
3    WHEREAS, In 2016, Salt Creek Golf Course was awarded the 
4"Best of the Best" designation for public golf courses by the 
5Daily Herald Newspapers; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Wood Dale Park District will celebrate its 
750th anniversary in 2017; therefore, be it
  
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare November 18, 
102017 as Wood Dale Park District Day; and be it further
  
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12presented to the Wood Dale Park District.
