SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Betsie, Jacob, and Jocelyn Austif of Franklin, who passed away on January 31, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Betsie Austif was born in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Robert and Regina Saviola Tucker on January 31, 1991; she married Jonathan E. Austif in Franklin on February 2, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Betsie Austif was a devoted wife and loving mother; she enjoyed knitting, making blankets for children, and doing arts and crafts; she loved writing poetry, singing, and reading; she was a member of Franklin Christian Church, where she sang in the choir and watched children in the nursery; she was a member of the Franklin Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, Jacob was born on July 15, 2013; he was a curious boy who loved helping his father work on trucks, watching Veggietales, and super heros; and

WHEREAS, Jocelyn was born on November 10, 2016; she had her father's ears and her mother's smile; she was always a happy baby and loved being cuddled; and

WHEREAS, Betsie Austif was preceded in death by her brother, Jordan Proffitt, and Jacob and Jocelyn's paternal great-grandparents, Joseph Edger, and Jean Austif; and

WHEREAS, Betsie, Jacob, and Jocelyn Austif are survived by Jonathan, father and husband; daughters and sisters, Abigail Schurman, and Issabelle Hopper; Betsie's parents, Robert and Regina Tucker; Jacob and Jocelyn's paternal grandparents, Jeff Austif and fiancé, Kathy, and Beverly Teaney; Betsie's grandparents, Roger and Shirley Tucker, Larry and Linda Jones, Robert and Jo Henson, and Pete and Judy Saviola; Betsie's sisters, Whitney Proffitt, and Maddi Tucker; Jacob and Jocelyn's paternal great-grandparents, Robert Teaney, and Kurt and Jean Hasselbring; Betsie's brothers, Robert Austin Tucker, and Gabriel W. Tucker; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Jonathan's sisters, Amy (Preston) Smith, and Megan Austif; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Betsie, Jacob, and Jocelyn Austif, and extend our sincere condolences to their family, friends, and all who knew and loved them; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Betsie, Jacob, and Jocelyn Austif as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
