SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of John Francis "Jack" Skeffington, who 
4passed away on January 1, 2017 at the age of 86; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, John Skeffington was born in Chicago, the only 
6child of Peter and Kathleen Skeffington of Carrick-on-Shannon, 
7Ireland; he graduated from St. Ignatius College Prep in 1948 
8and went on to earn a Juris Doctor from Loyola University in 
9Chicago in 1954; he married the love of his life, Marilyn 
10McCabe at St. Lucy Catholic Church in Chicago; in 1964, Jack 
11and Marilyn moved to River Forest where they lived for 31 years 
12and raised seven children; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, John Skeffington worked as an attorney at Querrey &
14 Harrow in Chicago for 40 years; upon retirement, he and his 
15wife began a new adventure at Del Webb's Sun City in Huntley; 
16he moved to Attic Angel Place near Madison, Wisconsin to be 
17closer to family in 2015; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, John Skeffington was preceded in death by his 
19parents and his wife, Marilyn; and

  
 
20    WHEREAS, John Skeffington is survived by his seven 
21children, Nancy, John (Julie), Mark, Matthew (Christine),

1Patrick (Janet), Mary (Jeffery), and Peter; his nine 
2grandchildren, John (Jen), Megan, Ryan, Adam (Morgan), 
3Natalie, Shannon, Nicholas, Christopher, and Lexi; and two 
4great-grandchildren, Malianna and Thomas; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL 
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
7John Francis "Jack" Skeffington, and extend our sincere 
8condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved 
9him; and be it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to the family of John Skeffington as an expression of 
12our deepest sympathy.
