| 2 | | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General

| 3 | | Assembly pays honor and respect to the truly great individuals

| 4 | | who have served our country and, in doing so, have made the
|
| 5 | | ultimate sacrifice for our nation; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Army Specialist Anthony R. Maddox, 22, of Port |
| 7 | | Arthur, Texas died on July 22, 2013 at Landstuhl Regional |
| 8 | | Medical Center, Germany, of injuries that occurred in a |
| 9 | | noncombat incident during a fueling accident in Andar, |
| 10 | | Afghanistan; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Specialist Maddox was assigned to 10th Brigade |
| 12 | | Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain |
| 13 | | Division, Fort Drum, New York and was serving during Operation |
| 14 | | Enduring Freedom; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Specialist Maddox was born on November 15, 1990 to |
| 16 | | Glenda F. Key and Jerome Maddox Jr.; he graduated from |
| 17 | | Nederland High School in 2009, where he was a football star for |
| 18 | | the Bulldogs and whose fearsome field presence earned him the |
| 19 | | nickname "Mad Dog"; he joined the United States Army in 2011; |
| 20 | | and

| 21 | | WHEREAS, Specialist Maddox approached everything he did in |
