| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Rick VanBrooker on the |
| 4 | | occasion of his retirement as Sheriff of McDonough County; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff VanBrooker grew up farming and started off |
| 6 | | working at a grain elevator and a grocery store; he always had |
| 7 | | an interest in law enforcement and joined the Plymouth Police |
| 8 | | Department in 1986; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff VanBrooker has had a 32-year career in law |
| 10 | | enforcement; he served for 12 years as Sheriff of McDonough |
| 11 | | County and spent 13 years with the Hancock County Sheriff's |
| 12 | | Office; he ran for Sheriff of McDonough County in 2005 and has |
| 13 | | been re-elected to three four-year terms; 2018 will be his last |
| 14 | | year as Sheriff of McDonough County; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff VanBrooker often goes above and beyond to |
| 16 | | help those in need; he has recently been taking an inmate to |
| 17 | | the Spoon River Outreach Center for a GED testing program; he |
| 18 | | has also worked with Western Illinois University to offer a GED |
| 19 | | program through the jail and has instituted a prisoner work |
| 20 | | program; and

| 21 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff VanBrooker has always felt that being a |
