HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dan Koessl, who passed away on November 5, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Dan Koessl worked at the Kane County Regional Office of Education for 29 years as a youth outreach and truancy worker; during his time there, he worked with students, families, and staff in District U-46, District 300, District 301, District 302, and District 303; as a youth outreach worker, Dan Koessl collaborated with schools to advocate for students and parents to ensure consistent school attendance; he was an incredibly hard worker with a drive to improve the lives of his students; he believed strongly in public education and was consistently focused on improving student attendance; and

WHEREAS, Dan Koessl volunteered to grill at staff cookouts, provide cheesecakes for families at Christmas, cooked turkey dinner for students on his caseload, and supported holiday purchases for local homeless youth; and

WHEREAS, Dan Koessl was a baseball coach for St. Edward's Central Catholic High School, Larkin High School, and Burlington-Central High School; and

WHEREAS, Dan Koessl was a devoted husband, father, and employee; his commitment to the Kane County community over the years has been an inspiration to many; and

WHEREAS, Dan Koessl is survived by his wife, Sue, and his children, Donald, Ryne, and Ashley; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dan Koessl, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dan Koessl as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
