HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Ralph Pechanio on receiving the 2017 Chairman's Award from the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and

WHEREAS, Ralph Pechanio has been an active Chamber member for 45 years and has served tenures as Chair, as Treasurer, and three terms as an elected Director; in 2017, he served as the appointed Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the third straight year; and

WHEREAS, Ralph Pechanio is a touchstone through which multiple generations of businesspeople, civic leaders, and community volunteers have connected; and

WHEREAS, Ralph Pechanio has served the business and civic communities by chairing the Elmhurst Veterans Memorial Commission and co-chairing the Elmhurst Memorial Day Parade Committee; as the Fundraising Chairman, he played an integral role in the building of the Veterans Memorial in Wilder Park; he has also remained the primary donor to both the Ralph P. Endowment Student Internship Fund and non-endowed student internship fund at Elmhurst College; and

WHEREAS, Ralph Pechanio was inducted into the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Civic Hall of Fame in 2015; he received the Distinguished Service Award from the Elmhurst Jaycees in 2001, the Good Works Award from the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2009, and the Community Service Award from the Elmhurst College Bluejay Backers in 2014; and

WHEREAS, Ralph Pechanio graduated from DePaul University with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce, with a major in accounting, in 1963; he served in the United States Army from 1965 until 1967; and

WHEREAS, Ralph Pechanio's banking career included 23 years at the former Elmhurst Federal Savings Bank, where he worked as a Controller, Vice President and Treasurer, and then as Chief Financial Officer; prior to Elmhurst Federal, he served as a Savings and Loan Examiner at the State of Illinois' Department of Financial Institutions; he and his wife, Georgette, have resided in Elmhurst since their marriage in 1969; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Ralph Pechanio on receiving the 2017 Chairman's Award, and we recognize his dedication to volunteering and appreciate his contributions to promoting an environment that creates success for businesses in Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Ralph Pechanio as an expression of our esteem and respect.
