| 2 | | WHEREAS, After 39 years of dedicated service, Kevin D. |
| 3 | | Schoeplein will retire on October 20, 2017 as Chief Executive |
| 4 | | Officer of OSF Healthcare System, an integrated health care |
| 5 | | system providing compassionate care to over three million |
| 6 | | people in Illinois and Michigan; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Kevin Schoeplein earned his Bachelor of Science in |
| 8 | | Business Administration from St. Louis University and two |
| 9 | | master's degrees from Xavier University in Cincinnati - a |
| 10 | | Master of Business Administration with a concentration in |
| 11 | | Finance and a Master of Healthcare Administration; in 2015, |
| 12 | | Xavier University honored him with the Distinguished Alumni |
| 13 | | Service Award for his outstanding contribution in health |
| 14 | | services administration; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Kevin Schoeplein began his career at OSF in July |
| 16 | | of 1978 as an assistant administrator at OSF Saint Francis |
| 17 | | Medical Center in Peoria; he was appointed administrator/CEO at |
| 18 | | OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford in 1983; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Kevin Schoeplein returned to Peoria in 1988 to |
| 20 | | serve as President of OSF Saint Francis, Inc., where he |
| 21 | | launched new business lines and developed the OSF Medical |
| 22 | | Group; additionally, he was responsible for the OSF Healthcare |

| 1 | | Foundation and became its first president; and |
| 2 | | WHEREAS, From 1996 to 1999, Kevin Schoeplein served as CEO |
| 3 | | of the OSF Northern Illinois/Michigan Region; in 1999, he began |
| 4 | | leading OSF HealthPlans as its president until the successful |
| 5 | | sale to Humana in May of 2008; he then became Executive Vice |
| 6 | | President of the OSF Healthcare System; and |
| 7 | | WHEREAS, In February of 2011, Kevin Schoeplein became CEO |
| 8 | | of OSF Healthcare System with a focus on integrated healthcare |
| 9 | | and transforming healthcare to improve lives; he led the |
| 10 | | advancement of OSF HealthCare to become one of the original |
| 11 | | Pioneer Accountable Care Organizations and facilitated |
| 12 | | tremendous growth in the OSF Medical Group; under his |
| 13 | | leadership, OSF has earned recognition by Truven as a |
| 14 | | nationally top performing healthcare system in 2015, 2016, and |
| 15 | | 2017; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Kevin Schoeplein's vision for One OSF, a truly |
| 17 | | integrated healthcare delivery system, has now become a |
| 18 | | powerful reality; as CEO, he led the growth of OSF from seven |
| 19 | | hospitals to 13; he developed the Jump Trading Simulation and |
| 20 | | Education Center; he established the OSF Innovation agenda to |
| 21 | | bring together providers, engineers, and data scientists to |
| 22 | | transform healthcare; he has established OSF as one of the |
| 23 | | largest and most respected employers in Illinois; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, In June 2014, Kevin Schoeplein was recognized |
| 2 | | nationally for leading change by becoming a founder member on |
| 3 | | the Health Care Transformation Task Force, a national industry |
| 4 | | consortium, in which he currently serves on its board and its |
| 5 | | executive committee; he is also a member of the Illinois Health |
| 6 | | and Hospital Association Board of Trustees and IHA Executive |
| 7 | | Committee and serves as chair of the IHA Transforming Illinois |
| 8 | | Healthcare Task Force; additionally, he has served on the board |
| 9 | | of directors for the Illinois Catholic Health Association; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Kevin Schoeplein has been married to his |
| 11 | | incredible wife, Lisa, for 39 years; Kevin and Lisa have five |
| 12 | | children, Stacie (Neil) Clayton and their children, Reagan, |
| 13 | | Oliver, and Zoe; Molly (Jeff) Ziegler and their children, |
| 14 | | Olivia, Elena, Isaac, and Collette; Chris (Tami) and his son, |
| 15 | | Henry; Ashley (Adam) Gagnon; and Matt; therefore, be it
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 17 | | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 18 | | commend Kevin Schoeplein for his outstanding service and |
| 19 | | innovation in the field of healthcare on behalf of the people |
| 20 | | of Illinois and wish him a long and happy retirement; and be it |
| 21 | | further
