HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the East St. Louis Senior 
4High School boys track and field team, the Flyers, on winning 
5the 2016 Illinois High School Association Class 3A Track and 
6Field State Championship; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, On May 28, 2016, at O'Brien Stadium in Charleston, 
8the Flyers were summoned like soldiers for battle; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, The Flyers fought the good fight and never lost 
10faith in themselves; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, The Flyers believed, lived by, and competed all 
12season long by the motto, "Failure is not an option!"; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, In sports, many are called but few are chosen, and 
14the Flyers were chosen to be champions; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, This championship ended an eight year drought in 
16East St. Louis sports history, reestablishing and proving why 
17the city is, and will forever be, "The City of Champions"; 
18therefore, be it
  
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE

1HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
2congratulate the East St. Louis Senior High School boys track 
3and field team, the Flyers, on winning the 2016 Illinois High 
4School Association Class 3A Track and Field State Championship; 
5and be it further
  
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the Flyers as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
