| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of

| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Sheriff Jim Padilla on the
|
| 4 | | occasion of his retirement as Henry County Sheriff and on his |
| 5 | | 41
years of faithful service to his community; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff Padilla was inspired at a young age by
his |
| 7 | | teacher to become a police officer, a dream he ultimately
|
| 8 | | fulfilled; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff Padilla started his law enforcement
|
| 10 | | career as a police officer in Kewanee, where he served
for |
| 11 | | eight years, including time on a multi-jurisdictional, |
| 12 | | bi-state
narcotics unit known as the Quad City Metropolitan
|
| 13 | | Enforcement Group; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff Padilla became the sheriff of Henry
County |
| 15 | | on May 27, 1984, a position he has held for 33 years; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff Padilla has continually improved his
law |
| 17 | | enforcement skills as sheriff, taking part in SWAT and FBI
|
| 18 | | training programs; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Sheriff Padilla has worked tirelessly to
ensure |
| 20 | | that the Henry County's Sheriff Department is a fully funded
