HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Gallatin County High School WYSE (Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering) Team on placing first in the 2017 State Championship at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign; and

WHEREAS, This is the second consecutive year that Gallatin County High School placed first; 2016 was the first time in the history of the school that a team had won a State Championship; it also placed fourth in 2015 and second in 2013; and

WHEREAS, The Gallatin County High School WYSE Team also received first place at their regional competition hosted by Southeastern Illinois College, and placed first at the sectional competition hosted by Southern Illinois University Carbondale; and

WHEREAS, Since the WYSE competition was created in 1998, Gallatin County High School has been represented at the State level 16 times; and

WHEREAS, Gallatin County High School's varsity team is Kelsi May, Kaylee McGuire, Jacob Watson, Caitlin Lynch, Lilly Galt, Bryon Wargel, Michaela Springer, Dylan Boggs, Nathan Shults, Dylan Garrison, Aaron Walters, Kiley Brown, David Matthews, and Kallie Keasler; they are coached by Lindsay Adams and Billyjoe Menard; and

WHEREAS, Gallatin County High School had one individual medal winner, Aaron Walters, who placed fifth in engineering graphics; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Gallatin County High School WYSE Team on placing first in the 2017 State Championship, and we wish them many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the members of the Gallatin County High School WYSE team as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
