HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Jay Groves on the occasion 
4of his retirement from Illinois State University (ISU); and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Jay Groves earned his bachelor's and master's 
6degrees in communication from ISU in 1980 and 1983, 
7respectively; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, Jay Groves worked as a journalist in radio and 
9television; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Jay Groves became director of ISU's TV-10 News in 
111984; he began serving as the University's Director of Media 
12Relations in 1995; and
  
 
13    WHEREAS, Jay Groves became Assistant to the President of 
14ISU under President Al Bowman in 2004; he was named  Chief of 
15Staff in 2012; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, Jay Groves has been a trusted advisor and 
17strategist in his various administrative roles at ISU; his 
18knowledge of the institution is both broad and deep; he has 
19been instrumental in telling the
remarkable story of ISU to a 
20wide array of audiences; his vast knowledge of media and
his

1rapport with reporters has made him indispensable as a 
2communicator on behalf of the
institution; his leadership has 
3played an important role in making ISU the strong and
stable 
4institution that it is; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
6HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7congratulate Jay Groves on his retirement from Illinois State 
8University, and we wish him the best in all his future 
9endeavors; and be it further
  
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
11presented to Jay Groves as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
