HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate speed skater Tommy 
4Shimoda of Mount Greenwood on winning a gold medal in the 
5500-meter race at the 2017 Special Olympic Winter World Games; 
6and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, Tommy Shimoda also won a bronze medal in the 
8777-meter event at the games in Austria, the
only Chicago 
9athlete to participate in the international games; and
  
 
  
10    WHEREAS, Tommy Shimoda has participated in the
Mount 
11Greenwood Special Recreation Association since he was eight 
12years old; and
  
 
  
13    WHEREAS, Tommy Shimoda has  been skating for
17 years and 
14said his biggest inspiration is his brother, Clarke; therefore, 
15be it
  
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
17HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
18congratulate speed skater Tommy Shimoda on winning a gold medal 
19in the 500-meter race at the 2017 Special Olympic Winter World 
20Games; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
2presented to Tommy Shimoda as an expression of our esteem and 
3respect.
